A gifted gorilla named Ivan and his lively friends embark on a heartwarming journey from circus performers to free spirits, discovering hope and friendship.

Ivan, a clever and artistic gorilla, has spent 20 wonderful years performing alongside his quirky animal friends at the Big Top Mall and Video Arcade, a vibrant circus inside a bustling Central Florida shopping mall. Surrounded by his pals—including the wise elephant Stella, the spunky chicken Henrietta, the playful rabbit Murphy, and the lovable stray dog Bob—Ivan finds joy in friendship, creativity, and unexpected adventures.

When a baby elephant named Ruby arrives, Ivan's heart opens as he encourages her to shine in the spotlight. Together with Julia, a kind caretaker's daughter who understands Ivan through his imaginative drawings, they dream of a life beyond captivity. With clever teamwork and lots of courage, Ivan and his friends embark on a daring plan to taste freedom, inspiring everyone around them.

Trivia About Ivan:
The movie and book are based on the life of an actual Western Lowland Gorilla named Ivan. The real Ivan did live at the B&I Amusement Center in Tacoma, WA for 27 years after being a pet for six years. When protests ceased the animals on display at the amusement center, Ivan went to live at Zoo Atlanta where he had a much different life.
